From routine exams to fillings to braces, kids have all kinds of special dental health needs. As parents, you want your children to have the highest quality care available, but it’s not always affordable. Kool Smiles helps you give your kids the dental health care they need and deserve by offering quality dental care at a low cost.
Our dentist office in Norfolk, VA provides all general dentistry services, as well as:
We understand that these services can be scary for children, so we make our office a positive, welcoming and fun place. Before beginning an exam or procedure, your provider uses the “tell, show, do” technique to explain every step of the process before they perform it, putting your child at ease and feeling comfortable.

To reach those who may not have access to dental care, our local Norfolk dentistry hosts Sharing Smiles Day once a year. This event offers no-cost cleanings and other treatments to children under age 18. Read more about Sharing Smiles Day online, and register if you’d like an appointment.
At Kool Smiles, we want kids of all ages to have access to dental care from a qualified professional. That’s why we have a team of dentists, nurses and administrators who are dedicated to serving the Norfolk community, including:
In addition to providing dental care from our office, we partner with local schools, day care centers and social services organizations to share oral health education with children throughout the Norfolk area.
Many new parents find themselves unsure what to do about their child’s dental needs. The American Dental Association recommends that everyone get regular dental checkups, but that’s especially important for children. Caring for their baby teeth and gums is the first step towards developing healthy adult teeth and a beautiful smile for life.
But how do dental checkups help your child’s smile grow healthy and beautiful? There are a number of ways these appointments can benefit your child:
Contrary to what many think, you don’t need to see a “pediatric dentist” for all of your child’s dental needs. Pediatric dentists are specialists. When you go for a regular dental checkup, your general dentist serves as your primary care provider. If they notice a problem that requires treatment from a specialist, like a pediatric dentist or an orthodontist, your general dentist will refer you to one.
For the majority of dental care needs, you should see a general dentist first. Not only are they typically more affordable and accept insurance plans like Medicaid and TRICARE at a higher rate, they also usually work with families for a longer period of time. This means they are often better suited to spot changes and patterns in dental health throughout your family.
At a Kool Smiles consultation or appointment, our general dentists can diagnose and treat your child for a variety of dental services. If your general dentist notices your child needs braces or to have their wisdom teeth removed, our in-house team can provide treatment, or we’ll recommend you to a specialist.
You don’t have to compromise quality for affordable dental care at Kool Smiles. We pride ourselves on our friendly and comfortable atmosphere as well as on our skilled, kid-friendly dentists.
